Terms of Service

Effective date: October 25, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply when you access or use ClipVault. By using ClipVault, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Using ClipVault

ClipVault lets you store text snippets in a vault accessed with a code in the format ABC-123; existing five-digit codes continue to work. You are responsible for keeping your code private and for activity by anyone who has it. The code is not a password and provides limited protection. Do not use ClipVault to store passwords, financial information, or other sensitive material.

Chat is optional and messages are encrypted in participating browsers. Your chat private keys are protected by a key derived from your vault code. Vault codes are short access codes with low entropy: anyone who knows or guesses your code can access the vault's chat identity and decrypt its conversations. Do not use chat for sensitive communications. Chat does not provide forward secrecy for previously stored messages. Either participant can delete a conversation and its message history for both people. Safety codes should be compared through another trusted channel. Older chat identities require their existing recovery phrase once to migrate.

You must use ClipVault lawfully and may not use it to violate another person's rights, distribute unlawful or harmful material, interfere with the service, or attempt to access systems or data without authorization.

Your content

You retain your rights to content you submit. You are responsible for having the rights and permissions needed to store and share it. You grant ClipVault permission to process your content only as needed to operate the features you choose, including storing and displaying snippets and handling attached files.

Google Drive

If you connect Google Drive, you authorize ClipVault to use the Google permissions shown on Google's consent screen to create a ClipVault folder and manage files you attach through the service. Google Drive is a third-party service governed by Google's own terms and policies. Disconnecting a vault moves its tracked ClipVault attachments to Google Drive Trash before ClipVault removes its stored authorization and file references. Files elsewhere in your Drive are not affected. If cleanup fails, the connection remains active so you can retry. Deleting an attachment through ClipVault also moves that file to your Google Drive Trash.

Availability and changes

ClipVault is provided without a promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. Features may change, and the service may be suspended or discontinued. Keep your own copies of important content; do not rely on ClipVault as your only backup.

Disclaimers and liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, ClipVault is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. To the extent permitted by applicable law, ClipVault is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or use arising from your use of or inability to use the service. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

Changes to these Terms

These Terms may be updated as ClipVault changes. The current version and effective date will be published on this page. Continued use after updated Terms take effect means you accept the updated Terms, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
